This weekend was one of the greatest weekends I could have asked for in a long time. I am at my happiest when I am surrounded by like minded and positive individuals who know the hard work it takes to be successful and have done it themselves. I realized that if I hadn’t gotten all the negative people out of my life (former business partners, ex girlfriends, unambitious acquaintances, junkies, haters) there would have never been room for all the great people that I have in my life today!
“You really have to cut the bad people out of your life because the good people won’t waste their time with you if you’re surrounded by them.” This was something I had posted on my personal twitter today. If this statement hit home for you, follow me at
http://TweetVito.com – I am always excited to interact with everyone and try to keep it very real on Twitter to share my experiences for you to learn from.
Affiliate Marketing has brought me together with some great people. My good friend and associate Adrian Morrison was in town and I got the opportunity to check out his highly informative seminar about affiliate marketing. I actually can say that even with all my years in this business, the seminar put a lot of things I already knew about into an even greater perspective. We got the chance to Toast and do some plotting in the Watchtower high above the masses and make more progress towards getting our Boot Camp program launched which I know will give a lot of you the tools, information and extra edge it takes to go from being an average affiliate to an extraordinary success story.

‘Adrian Morrison preaching success to a sold out crowd in Chicago, IL’
The greatness didn’t stop there for me this weekend. I had the opportunity to meet with yet another business and motivational legend Bill Walsh from Power Team International based here near Chicago as well. Bill is responsible for giving some of the biggest business and motivational speakers in the world their big break. I will be participating in a big speech that will be formally announced soon and Bill was generous enough to give me a few quick pointers in the right direction. Getting advice about public speaking from someone as accomplished as Mr. Walsh was humbling to say the least.
Through my experience meeting with such incredibly successful individuals like Adrian and Bill this weekend I learned a lot about what it takes to be a leader in your industry. I have always been forced into roles of leadership and I could never figure out why. However, after spending time with these gentlemen and reflecting on myself I came up with a few characteristics that define successful individuals.
Accountability -
Taking accountability is the number one requirement of being a leader. No excuses. I always say that the only people above me are American Express, the IRS, and God, and none of them care about what excuses I make. Don’t blame your problems on other people or outside circumstances. The world isn’t fair, but the playing field is equal. We all have access to the same customers, the same traffic sources, the same mentors. It’s a matter of doing what YOU have to do as an individual to get in control of the resources you need to succeed and not passing the responsibility of your success off to anybody else.
Communication -
Being able to express yourself properly is a huge part of getting what you want, and therefore being able to be more personally accountable and less reliant on others. Communication also allows you to communicate HOW accountable you are to others, so people grow to rely on you and therefore give you more power.
Virtue -
A brief definition of Virtue is Moral Excellence. In the business world, virtue to me means value. Bring value to everyone you work with. Put the value you deliver ahead of the reward you expect in exchange. When you put out excellent value consistently, you will be excellently rewarded for the effort. If you just do the absolute minimum to get the reward you’re after, the one rewarding you will eventually give that reward to someone who gives them more value.
Be a leader of your own life and success. Surround yourself with other leaders. If you can’t find them any near you in real life, surround yourself with leaders on Twitter and other social media sites. I would love to hear your thoughts on leadership, tweet them to me at
http://TweetVito.com and let’s continue the discussion there.
